Raj Gilda, Co-Founder, Lend-A-Hand India


Raj Gilda is a serial entrepreneur who has  pioneered ventures ranging from launching a non-profit to provide vocational training to over 10,000 youth from rural India to leading efforts to pioneer equity based futures and options trading in India. Having started his career selling life insurance to pay for his engineering, Raj moved on to work across three continents (Asia, Europe and North America). He has worked in marketing and finance with Citibank in New York as a strategy consultant with Deloitte Consulting, a software engineer with British Telecom in Belfast, and as a finance professional with National Stock Exchange and IL&FS in India.

His passion lies in bringing the world of corporate sector and non-profit together. He co-founded a non profit, Lend A Hand India (LAHI) which provides job and life skills training to boys and girls from high schools in rural India. Though started with seed contribution of only $500, this non profit  has now grown to work with 10,000 youth from 61 villages across India.  In Jan 2011, Raj quit his job as SVP with Citigroup to pursue to focus on LAHI. Recently, it was awarded a grant of $2 Million to launch its program in 100 schools over next five years.

As recognition for this work, Raj has received recognition  for exceptional community service from the President of the United States for five years in a row. He was awarded prestigious Chevening Gurukul scholarship sponsored by the British Government in 2012. Raj is an Electronics Engineer from University of Pune, (India) CFA, and MBA from University of Texas at Austin.
